Camelback (cave) Cricket
- Behavior:
Camelback crickets love moisture and darkness, so it is more common for a home owner to find infestations during the summer when the camelback cricket moves inside for shelter from the hot summer heat. - Habitat:
Camelback crickets (also known as cave crickets) are found in cool, damp, and dark areas. Outdoors, they are often found under logs and stones and they feed on plant debris. Camelback crickets are not attracted to light. When they enter homes, camelback crickets search for conditions similar to their outdoor environment, which often leads them to garages, basements and other dark areas. - Tips For Control:
Caulking/Sealing entry points to reduce their movement indoors, as well as IPM-Reducing humidity and moisture where possible. - Treatment:
As always the technician will determine the best method of treatment upon inspection. Indoors usually basements or crawlspaces will be treated. Around pipes, cracks in foundation, or under first level of siding outside.
